Challenges of an Overweight Person Having a size more than 14 will surely produce additional challenges for the person's daily routine. Size 14 usually denotes that you are in the limits of the normal size and beyond this you already belong to the "plus size" community and that is where the difficulties start. Health Problems Overweight individuals often experience health problems due to excessive mass that their different body systems have to endure. Too much weight imposes additional burden to their bones especially the back and the legs. Just think, a 30-year-old male with an average height of 5'9 weighing 250lbs have an excess of 80.7 lbs based on the computed BMI (body mass index) for average height and weight. It is as if his body is being loaded with an 11-year-old girl (having an average weight of 79.2lbs) as he faces his everyday chores. A normal person may tolerate it for a few hours but not for a long period. Eventually our body will experience corresponding effects of bearing such load. Probably that is the reason why most overweight people feels out of breath by just walking a few miles. They also shy away from stooping over since they have difficulties in carrying their bodies as they stand up. Too much weight also produces several medical problems like diabetes, high blood pressure, heart ailments and even acne breakouts. Social Stigma Aside from health problems, most overweight people also face social stigma. Most of them experience being invisible in a crowd even though their massiveness demands attention. They often hear snickering and hushed jokes behind their backs. They also feel mistreated repeatedly compared to a normal weight person. People stay away from them as if they have a dreaded disease. Some don't want to seat beside them thinking that they might smell their fat aroma or they might be crushed next to them. They have a hard time looking for appropriate clothes and other personal materials for most are manufactured for normal sized individuals only. Most of the time they are regarded with less interest thus their difficulty in finding a relationship and social acceptance is evident. If we will think about it, this should not be the case for most people (research showed that 2 of 3 Americans are overweight). There are several means of reducing weight. You can choose the easy, average or the hard method of doing it. The easy way is to take dietary supplements. Dr. Oz have been recommending a lot of safe and effective (based on research and studies) pills like garcinia cambogia extract which acts as fat blocker. A bit harder measure is to limit certain food categories in your daily menu. Cut down on processed food, carbohydrates and fats so that stored cellulites may be burned and converted to energy. The most challenging process is to limit the food intake and at the same time perform several muscle-building activities that will remove the overweight dilemma. Overweight people don't have to stay second-class citizens. They have a choice and it is up to them to make the right one. |
